Under the leadership of Sekou Kaalund, the Advancing Black Pathways initiative works toward sustainable economic success and empowerment of black communities.

Previously, Kaalund served for 11 years in JPMorgan's Corporate and

Investment Bank in numerous leadership position, including head of U.S. pension fund coverage and a senior relationship manager for some of the firm’s largest clients. He began his J.P. Morgan career in 2007 as managing director and global head of sales for private equity and real estate fund services. Kaalund also held leadership roles at Citi and Federal  Reserve Bank of New York.

Kaalund earned a master’s of public policy from Duke University and a bachelor’s from Hampden-Sydney College. He has served on the boards of uke UnDiversity School of Public Policy, the New York City Parks Foundation, and the Council of Urban Professionals. He is also a member of the  Executive  Leadership  Council,  Truman  National  Security  Program, and the Aspen  Institute Vanguard Society, where he serves on the Advisory Board.

The All-Stars Project honored Kaalund in 2017 for leadership and community impact. The Boys and Girls Club of America inducted him into the Hall of Fame in 2011.
