Bio

Marilyn Booker is a 25-year veteran of Morgan Stanley and is the managing director and head of the finance firm's Urban Markets Group. Her commitment to economic empowerment for all extends beyond running a traditional wealth management business. She teaches financial education and wealth building in urban communities across the country. Ms. Booker has been recognized by Savoy magazine, The Network Journal, and Uptown Profession as one of the nation’s most influential African American corporate executives, and been honored for her achievements by the Harvard College Black Men’s Forum, the Association for Black Women Attorneys, and the Los Angeles Spelman College Alumni Association, among others. A former trustee of the Morgan Stanley Foundation, she also served on the boards of the New York Urban League, the Arthur Ashe Institute of Health, and the Michael J. Berkeley Foundation. Ms. Booker testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations at its hearing on Diversity in the Financial Services Sector. Media appearances include an ABC World News Tonight segment on women and the workforce and a CBS MarketWatch Weekend segment highlighting Morgan Stanley’s Emergency Day Care Program. A native of Chicago, Marilyn received her B.A. magna cum laude from Spelman College and her J.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology-Chicago Kent College of Law. An attorney by training, Marilyn has practiced criminal defense litigation, municipal finance, corporate bankruptcies, and corporate restructuring.
